【公交优先】
在确立公交优先发展战略后, 我市财政对公交的补贴和投入由2006年的1亿元增加到7.5亿元, 2006-2007年, 建成5个、共计1.7万平方米公交回车场, 启动建设6万平方米公交停车保养场, 新建247个新型公交候车亭。目前116条公交线路中已有102条实施刷卡优惠, 其余14条执行城市公交费率优惠；新辟线路18条。空调车票价由2元降为1元；刷卡乘车6折、学生卡3折、老年卡2折; 常州成为继北京之后, 第二个实行公交降价的城市。
Public Transport Priority
Implementing the strategy of “Public Transport Priority”, the
municipal government increased the financial investment from RMB 100 million in 2006 to 750 million until now. During 2006 to 2007, 5 bus turnaround loops with an area of 17 thousand square meters have been built; projects of constructing a bus parking & maintenance lot of 60 thousand square meters and building 247 new-style bus stops have been launched. Currently, 102 of the 116 bus lines have practiced discount for using electronic cards, while preferential public bus charge rate for urban public transport is applied to the rest 14 lines; and 18 lines are newly added. The ticket price of air-conditioned bus is reduced from 2 yuan to 1 yuan; 40% discount is applied for using electronic cards, 70% discount for student and 80% discount for the senior. Other than Beijing, Changzhou becomes the second city implementing discount for public transport.

【困难职工乘公交，不用自己掏腰包】
2007年2月, 江苏新城集团向常州市总工会捐赠500万元, 设立了常州市新城公交爱心基金, 每年向市区困难职工发放“爱心公交卡”, 每张卡面值300元, 凭卡可免费乘坐公交车500次。
Free Public Transportation for the Needy Employees
In February 2007, Jiangsu Xincheng Real Estate Co., Ltd. contributed RMB 5 million to Changzhou Federation of Trade Union and set up Changzhou Xincheng Charitable Fund for Public Transportation. “Heart-caring IC Card”, RMB 300 per face value, will be annually delivered to the needy employees, with which can freely take a bus for 500 times.

【快速公交—BRT】
2007年底完工的常州快速公共交通（BRT）一号线，于2008年元旦正式投运，总投资约3.5亿元，常州公交南北快速大通道得以打通。快速公交方式将市民出行利益置于首位，更加注重节能减排和环境友好型城市的建设。
Bus Rapid Transit—BRT
Changzhou BRT Line 1, with a total investment of around RMB 350 million, was completed as of 2007 and was officially opened to traffic in January 2008, which realized a full operation for BRT from the south to the north. With priority to people’s traffic convenience, BRT attaches more importance to energy saving & emission reduction and the construction of an environment-friendly city.
